Trnava is the oldest independent royal city in Slovakia with a rich cultural, commercial and industrial history. It lies on the edge of Západoslovenská lowland at a distance of about 50 km from Bratislava, capital of Slovakia, and only 95 km from the Austrian capital Vienna. It is the seat of the district and county and in terms of road and rail transport has a very convenient location. The town has a main highway and rail corridor linking the west and east, and north and south of SR.
The town with 65.000 citizens prepared annually for the labour market school-leavers of secondary and university education with knowledge-based composition suitable for further development of the city and the whole region, industry, services, health, food, education and other sectors. In the city operate three universities – University of Trnava, University of St. Cyril and Methodius and also Material-Technological Faculty of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava.
